Phone Calls During Office Hours
During office hours, routine medical advice calls are handled by our providers. Calls are usually returned in the order they are received, unless a more urgent problem takes priority. We do try to return every medical advice call as soon as possible. If your child is sick, and you are unsure if he/she needs to be seen, please call as soon as possible, so that we can bring you in the same day
After Hours and Weekend Phone Calls
We ensure that our parents have 24-hour access to medical advice should an urgent situation arise. So, we do have an after hours number for your convenience. However, we ask that you use this number only for urgent medical advice. For questions about appointments, routine lab results, etc please leave a message at the office and it will be handled when we open.
Please try to limit after-hours and weekend calls to those you feel are absolutely necessary and cannot wait until regular office hours, when your child’s health records are readily available. If your child needs to be seen after regular office hours, we suggest either Urgent Care for Kids or Pediatric After Hours
Should your child require emergency room care or hospitalization, we recommend:
Children’s Medical Center at Legacy in Plano.
Natural Care MD
Pediatrics and Functional Medicine
Our patient education resources provide you with latest news and information in pediatric health care. Visit often to learn more about newborn care, well-child care, common childhood illnesses and more.
We have developed some policies and procedures for our office which we believe will ensure the efficient handling of the many routine issues that arise. We found that having established policies helps you as a customer and us a provider to know what to expect in any circumstance. These policies are guidelines for us to work with, and if you have a special circumstance or need, please feel free to contact our staff.
Things to keep in mind when you come in for an Office Visit
Please try to arrive about 5 to 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment, to allow time for the check in process.
If this is your first visit, please come 15 to 20 minutes before the appointment time to complete the necessary forms, or download and complete our online forms to ensure a faster visit.
If you have any questions for the providers, please write them down before you arrive at the office, to ensure that you get all your answers before you leave.
If you feel your child has a true life threatening emergency, illness or injury, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room immediately. If your child has a problem that requires urgent attention, but is not a life threatening emergency, call our office number. During office hours, state your emergency and you will be connected with one of our nurses and instructed what to do. After office hours, you will be directed to call our after hours provider who will advise you. If needed, you may be asked to go to one of the nearby urgent care clinics, or the closest emergency room.
In general, symptoms such as fever, sore throat or cough are not an emergency unless your child is less than two months of age, has labored or rapid breathing, altered mental status or appears dehydrated.
If you are anxious or need urgent medical advice, call, but not as an emergency. Again, if you feel your child has a true life threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room immediately.
If your child requires admission, we recommend Children’s Medical Center at Legacy. While in the hospital, your child will be cared for by the hospitalists and we will resume care after your child has been discharged.Type your paragraph here.Type your paragraph here.
Waiting Room Policy
To reduce the exposure of the healthy kids to illness, we have partitioned our waiting room into separate well and sick waiting areas. So, when you come in, please make sure you wait in the appropriate area of the waiting room. Most colds and other common illnesses are transmitted through direct contact, rather than through the air. So, staying away from sick kids and good hand washing will prevent the spread of most sicknesses.Type your paragraph here.
